About the School

At KalaaSravanthi Performing Arts Academy, students gain more than just dance training—they also learn discipline, respectful behavior, and a deep appreciation for Indian culture. The academy encourages a structured learning environment through the use of uniforms and daily practice assignments provided via homework sheets.

We regularly host workshops that cover both the theoretical and practical aspects of the performing arts. KalaaSravanthi is proud to be the first Houston-based school affiliated with Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Andhra Pradesh, allowing students to appear for university-level exams in the arts. Upon successful completion of all four levels, students can earn college credits.

Under the dedicated guidance of Guru Sravanthi, students receive extensive preparation to meet all examination requirements. Many of our students have successfully completed their Arangetrams and graduated in dance through the academy. They have also participated in prestigious competitions such as Saptami, Dhimtana, and Seva International, bringing home numerous awards.

In our ongoing commitment to promoting art and culture, we are planning to launch a non-profit organization to invite renowned artists from India to perform in the U.S. This initiative will not only enrich our students’ exposure to Indian classical arts but also offer them opportunities to experience world-class performances.

Every name holds significance and carries with it unique characteristics and essence. Kalaasravanthi Performing Arts Academy is a perfect example of this. The word “Kalaa” means art in any form, while “Sravanthi” signifies a continuous flow.

The esteemed Guru Smt. Lakshmi Sravanthi Modali has extensive experience in performing and teaching various dance forms, including Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Odissi. She is a gifted teacher known for her stunning creativity, pleasant demeanor, and consistently positive attitude. One of her most endearing qualities is her affectionate nature toward children—so much so that students feel disappointed when a class is canceled.

With over 27 years of experience teaching in schools, colleges, and universities, it had always been her dream to start her own dance school. That dream became a reality in 2016 with the establishment of Kalaasravanthi Performing Arts Academy, founded with the mission of promoting all forms of Indian classical arts and culture. Today, through this academy, she continues to spread the joy of dance in the Houston area, with classes held at locations such as Katy and The Woodlands.
